After having graduated from St. John's School of Law in 1997, Kimberly Irving immediately began work at the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. Despite the overwhelming workload and frantic pace, she excelled in the high-pressured sex crimes division. Looking to broaden her experiences, Kimberly moved to Virginia and spent a year working at the American Prosecutors Research Institute. While there, she worked on both the Domestic Violence and the DNA Legal Assistance Unit. One aspect of her job involved the set up, facilitation, and teaching of many training seminars. The majority of her time was spent teaching prosecutors how to use DNA evidence, which is invaluable knowledge to any trial lawyer.
Following this, she became an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Prince William County where she continued to hone her trial skills. She was able to gather this experience by successfully trying many sex crimes while working extensively and delicately with fragile, young victims. In 2001, Kimberly opened her own practice in criminal defense work. During this time, she has tried everything from speeding tickets to murders. In 2005, she received the prestigious award for the Court Appointed Attorney of the Year for Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and as the Outstanding Guardian ad Litem from the CASA group for abused and neglected children. In 2007 she received the award for Court Appointed Attorney of the Year from the Circuit Court in Prince William County.
Kimberly Irving has handled some of the most notorious cases of the recent past. In fact, she is one of only a handful of attorney's qualified by the Supreme Court of Virginia to first chair capital murder cases. Whether working as a prosecutor or a defense attorney, Kimberly Irving has had overwhelming success and has proven herself as an individual who works with conviction, integrity, and dedication.
